What is a spiritual: A spiritual is a song that was used to help slaves with things like how to escape and people still use it today to show the culture and background of black Americans. They were used heaps and sung throughout the day when slaves were hard at work. Nowadays you may hear them anywhere including in popular rap songs and from popular brands.

Who is Harriet Tubman? Harriet Tubman is known for helping slaves escape from the owners. As an ex-slave, she was used to the song that was sung and used music to help escape. The way they did this was to use an underground railroad that when all around and through the slave states. These railroads were kept secret and slave owners did not know about it.

'New Slaves' is a song sung by famous rapper Kanye west it has many lyrics that show how slavery has affected them.

Here are some lines in this song. They show that slaves wanted freedom and couldn't do anything without it as they felt hopeless. This also shows that they hated the situations they were in and that they needed something better.

These events are still huge today: This is because we still today have things like BLM and civil rights for people of color.  What happened in the past has affected what happens in today's life as people are still using racial slurs to put down others. People are still trying to use people of color as their own personal slaves. Although this is illegal some people still think it's ok to hold slaves because of a huge thing like the slave triangle.
