Population of NZ throughout the years 1836-1901 Maori vs European

Recently in Social Studies, we have been looking at the population data in NZ.

Here is the graph I made of it:

What does this graph show us? This shows us that over time the Maori population dropped and the European population went up. This would mean that over time the population of New Zealand became majority from Europe.

Why do you think the number of Maori changed?
The amount of Maori changed because they were dying due to the introduction of diseases and they were killed by Europeans throughout wars and while they were taking away their land.

Why do you think the numbers of Europeans changed?
Because the land was sold to the Europeans bringing them over to New Zealand. They would of course have children and their children would have kids since they had way better-living conditions than Maori’s
