100g butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1tsp vanilla essence
1 1/2 cups flour
pinch of salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup choc chips
Method:
Melt butter and add both sugars and cream these together. Beat in the eggs and vanilla then mix in the dry ingredients. Roll into medium-sized balls, making sure the mixture is not to wet! Put on a well-greased baking tray. They shouldn't spread too much so flatten slightly. Bake at 180 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Tip: you can easily half this recipe. or roll half into a log, wrap in cling film and freeze. Cut into 15 pieces while still frozen and bake.
Comments: We only made 12 cookies instead of the 15 the recipe said because then we would have needed to use to trays. Next time we wouldn't melt the butter but instead, soften the butter so you can cream the butter and sugar together.

The difference between cookies and cakes: The difference is the cookie mix is flatter and is not made to rise as much but instead flatten. This is because you don't use as much raising agents as you do in a cake to make it light and fluffy.
