What is Shark Finning? Shark Finning is when people are cutting off the fins of a shark. They are then selling these fins to China and Hong Kong. These places are then using millions of fins they gat and make shark fin soup from them which they then eat.
Why is it a delicacy? This is a very important part of the Chinese culture as this is used to show who is better than the rest. This is used as a social status but also used at special events such as weeding Chinese New Year and Birthdays. This dish is also very expensive costing upwards of 100 US dollars.
How is this impacting our oceans/why are sharks so important? Sharks are very important for our ocean and this is affecting the food chain since there will be an overpopulation of fish which will then run out of food leaving us with more issues and problems for us on land and humans.
Great blog Tobey,
ReplyDeleteI liked how you included a lot of information and a image of a shark getting its fin chopped off.
Next time, you could add a photo of people trying to not let people take it for evidence.
Again nice blog can't wait for your next one.
Nice blog Tobey, I like how you added a image, something you should do next time is make the indiviual questions bold so they're easier to find.
