On Tuesday the 14th of May the year 7/8s went to the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple in Riccarton. First We got to school and got ready to go on the bus like you normally would on when you're going on a trip. It took a while to get there on the bus but it didn't fell to long as I was sitting next to Tyler. When we got there I was excited to learn about what their culture and religion looked like. As soon as we got out of the bus we lined up into four lines two lines for each group. The group I was in was group one.
They took us inside and we went to a place they call the museum it had lots of cool pieces of art and religious things to look at. They soon told us about the 3 goods (3G) and the 4 givings (4G) and what they mean and why it is good to use them in your everyday life to make a difference in the world. They split us up and took half of us to the library and the other half somewhere else. I was in the group that went to the library.
In the library, they told us about why they have the library and what they use it for. We weren't in the library for long though and they took us to get some food. They gave us some biscuits and water. The water was in this weird cup thing and the biscuits tasted like play dough. They also gave us water tattoos.
After they took us to this room were we made lotus flowers and watched a short video about the Buddha. Then they took us to one of the main rooms and we talked more about their religion and what they do. We got to learn how to meditate and got some cool bell. Then when they told us we had to go and we got back on the bus.
I would really like to go again because it was really cool.
