My Holidays

Hi Guys!

Today in class we were given the task to write about one of your favorite events all holidays.
Here is the work I have done

On Thursday the 3rd of October my family and I went to go on the chair lift at the adventure park.

It was a nice day and I went to my grandparents’ house for the day because my cousins were there so they
thought it would be a good idea. When I got to my grandparent's house everyone was thinking of things to
do for the day because none of us wanted to stay there for the day. My uncle came up with the idea for us
all to go on the chairlift at the adventure park everyone agreed so that was the plan for the day.

We all put our things in the cars and got ready to go to the chairlifts. On the ride there we had to make sure
that the people on the chairlifts will be ok so I got put into a group with Finley (Cousin), Harrison (Cousin)
and I. we got dropped off at the top and would be picked up again at the bottom of the hill after the ride on the
chairlift. The chairlift was we walk away from where we got dropped off at so be began to walk until we
got to the chairlift.

When we made it to the chairlift we got into our groups and decided who was going in what order. My group
was going second after my sister's group. My sister's group went first and my group went second. When the
chairlift started it didn't look bad but as it got further down the hill the gap from the chairlift and the hill got
bigger. I got more scared because at one point it started to vibrate and you could tell that my cousin Finley
and I were starting to get scared but the vibrating stop not long after.

My sisters had finished the ride and we were just about to and I was glad that it was over but I would really
love to go on it again.

After everyone finished we got afternoon tea at the cafe there I got a coke and a caramel slice. After we
went home and hung out with my cousins for the rest of the day.

I really enjoyed that day and I would love to do those things again.

Our Nature (Drama)

Hi Guys
Today in class we were learning about our wellbeing and how it is good for us.

Explain the 5 ways of being healthy in nature:

  1. Go for a run outside
  2. relax under some trees.
  3. go for a swim
  4. eat healthily outside
  5. walk on the beach.

Describe one way you enjoy the outdoors and set a goal for a new outdoor activity:
I enjoy the outdoors because you can go and play sports and go for runs. I will try new sports I never heard of before.

A picture of my favorite outdoor place:
Image result for beach woodend
I like this place because I can go for a swim as well as a run and I go there with my family.

What my creation story I believe in:

    Our new Buildings

    Hi Guys
This week on Monday our school got to move into some new buildings. These buildings had taken a couple of years to build and are quite cool. The buildings are three duplicated and their names are Mohua, Riroriro, and Tīeke they got their names from our local native birds.

When we walked into our new buildings I saw...
When I first walked into the buildings I saw a mini grandstand that was around the center of the classroom. Also, no doors were blocking us to other classrooms so there was an open space. There was also a breakout space and a bench type thing for us to work in.

When I walked into our new buildings I thought...
I thought that these buildings will be a great space to work in because they look really cool and are way better than the building we were originally in. I also found it cool that there is heaps of space to do our work in. I also thought that these buildings were just what we needed for our school and I can't wait to continue working in them.

When I walked into our new buildings I felt...
When I walked into our new buildings I felt glad that we got these buildings because they are fresh and new. I also felt amazed that we actually go ta learning space that looked this good and were for heaps of different classes to use and work in. I was really happy to get to have my classwork in them and I can't wait till we get to use it for all of term 4.

I really enjoyed these buildings and I can't wait until we fully move into these learning spaces and we found what works best in these classes. I am really excited and find these places really cool to work in.

    Hurumanu Laboratory Introduction

    Title: Science Laboratory Introduction

Aim: To learn about the expected behavior in a science laboratory.

    Our R9 Class Treaty
    1.    Quiet voices.
    2.    Sitting with appropriate people.
    3.   Not fidgetting.
    4.   Not disrupting.
    5.  Respecting equipment.
    6.   Making good choices.
    Equipment:
100mls Measuring cylinder: This is used to measure liquids for experiments. The liquids will be poured into a beaker or test tube once measured out.

Funnel: for funneling this into something.

250mls Conical flask: used for experiments with liquid up to 150mls. The flask has a rubber bung for the top and the glass is heatproof.

Test tubes tongs: these are used to hold a hot test tube after an experiment.

250mls Beaker: To hold liquids for and experiment.

100mls Beaker: To hold liquids for and experiment.

Spatula: For holding very small amounts of chemical powders.

Steering rod: A 20cm glass rod used to stir and mix any liquids together.

10mls measuring cylinder: This is used to measure liquids for experiments. The liquids will be poured into a beaker or test tube once measured out.

Test tubes: used for most experiments using liquids. They have a bung that goes in the top.

Hurumanu My Investigation on Climate Change

    My Investigation on Climate Change

    ACIDIFICATION

DEFINITION: when too much acid is pumped into something it becomes acidic.

ACIDIFICATION: HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACIDIFICATION OF OUR OCEANS?

It is bad for our ocean because the ph level drops the animals in the ocean will not be healthy enough to survive. this is because when we let carbon in the air 1/3 of it gets sucked up by the ocean witch sounds good but is really bad for the ocean because there is too much acid in it so it becomes bad for people and the animals in the ocean as well as the ocean itself.

DEFINITION: removing trees and forest from a landscape

DEFORESTATION: HOW DOES DEFORESTATION AFFECT CLIMATE CHANGE?

It affects climate change because there is more carbon in the air because there are not enough trees to collect all the carbon. It is also bad for the water cycle because there is more runoff so there isn't enough water for the grass and other plants. It is bad for humans because there is not enough oxygen in the air for them to breath and there will soon be too much carbon in the air. It also affects the animals that live there because they don't have what we need to survive.

    ICE CAP MELT

DEFINITION: when ice caps are melting

ICE CAP MELT: HOW DOES ICE CAP MELT AFFECT CLIMATE CHANGE?

It affects climate change because the sea level rises and all the freshwater from the ice will go into the ocean and ruin the coral and sensitive animals/plants. Also, the water from the artic would ruin the animals living on the ice like penguins because they use the ice for things like habitats.

    WATER VAPOUR

    DEFINITION: when water is evaporating.

WATER VAPOUR: HOW DOES  WATER VAPOUR AND EVAPORATION CONTRIBUTE TO CLIMATE CHANGE?

it is good for the water cycle but since it is getting too hot there is not as much water vapor for the earth. Water vapor is when the water is evaporating into the air. This is when the suns heat goes into the water and it can come off as steam. This steam goes into the air and evaporates as clouds.
