Hurumanu (Renewable Energy Investigation)

Aim: To make a presentation that investigates different renewable energy's.

Section 1: Title Page

Section 2: Definitions
  1. Hydro Energy
Hydro energy is when water is used to create energy using a water turbine.

     2. Solar Energy

Solar energy is when we collect energy from the light of the sun using a solar panel.

     3.Wind Energy
Wind energy is when you collect energy from the power of the wind force using a wind turbine.

4.Wave Energy
Image result for wave energy
Wave energy is when you get energy from the waves and their speed and force they turn the waves into energy using a wave encounter machine.

Section 3; Investigate each of the 4 Energy types.
( Hydro ,Solar ,Wind ,Wave )
  1. Type: Hydro
  2. Is it used in NZ? Yes. Large turbines have been build in the central plateau region in the north island.
  3. Other Countries that use it? Brazil, Canada, Norway, Paraguay, Austria, Switzerland, Venezuela, and many other countries.
  4. How is it used to generate electricity? It is used to generate electricity when you put a hydro turbine in places like rivers that have a water stream.
  5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator?

  1. Type: Solar
  2. Is it used in NZ? Yes. They have them all over New Zealand in places like Christchurch and maybe even around your town/city.
  3. Other Countries that use it? Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, The United States, and Czechia.
  4. How is it used to generate electricity? when the sunlight hits a solar panel the solar panel will absorb the sun's light and will produce energy.
  5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator?

  1. Type: Wind
  2. Is it used in NZ? Yes. There are some wind farms in places like the cook straight and Manawatu Gorge.
  3. Other Countries that use it? China, The United States, Germany, India, Spain, United Kindom, and France.
  4. How is it used to generate electricity? When the wind pushes the huge wind turbine energy is made because of the wind's force.
  5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator?

  1. Type: Wave
  2. Is it used in NZ? No.
  3. Other Countries that use it? Scotland, Canada, Australia, and The United States.
  4. How is it used to generate electricity? When waves hit wave energy generator the power from the waves hitting it creates some power and energy.
  5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator?

Section 4: Renewable Energy in the future.

List at 10 ways that renewable energy will be used in the future to replace our current activities.
  1. To power cars
  2. To give energy to houses
  3. To fuel vehicles like planes and etc.
  4. For cooking devices
  5. Computers eg. chargers
  6. phones eg. chargers
  7. factories
  8. printers
  9. camera's
  10. vacuum cleaners and electronics
