Solar eclipse: happens in the daytime when the moon blocks the earth from the sun
A solar eclipse is when the sun is blocked from the earth because the moon gets in the way cause it to be night during the daytime for a small period of time.
We would see darkness during the day for around 15 mins
the last solar eclipse in NZ was in 1965
the next one in NZ will be in 2028
Lunar eclipse: happens at night when the earth blocks the moon from the sun
During the night the earth gets in the way of the moon giving it no light to reflect meaning you wouldn't see the moon.
You would see a full moon followed by no moon being visible.
The last lunar eclipse in NZ was March 26th, 2021
The next lunar eclipse will be November 8-9th 2022
